Sermon summary (Click on the title) Spiritual Check-up 1 Corinthians 11:28-32 Gill Khoury – 19 March 2017

Easter is coming!

Prepare yourself spiritually and don’t miss the reason for this high point in the Christian calendar.

Many Christians go through a period of self-examination at this time of year.

It is a good idea that we do the same.

1 Corinthians 11:28-32 Amplified Bible (AMP)

28 But a person must [prayerfully] examine himself [and his relationship to Christ], and only when he has done so should he eat of the bread and drink of the cup. 29 For anyone who eats and drinks [without solemn reverence and heartfelt gratitude for the sacrifice of Christ], eats and drinks a judgment on himself if he does not recognize the body [of Christ]. 30 That [careless and unworthy participation] is the reason why many among you are weak and sick, and a number sleep [in death]. 31 But if we evaluated and judged ourselves honestly [recognizing our shortcomings and correcting our behavior], we would not be judged

2 Corinthians 13:5 Amplified Bible (AMP)

Test and evaluate yourselves to see whether you are in the faith and living your lives as [committed] believers. Examine yourselves [not me]! Or do you not recognize this about yourselves [by an ongoing experience] that Jesus Christ is in you—unless indeed you fail the test and are rejected as counterfeit?

How do you self examine? Tools:

  • Prayer
  • Meditation
  • Fasting
  • Study

Spiritual evaluation questions over the next few weeks:

Score yourself out of 10: Then examine the reasons for the score.

  • Am I praying with faith?
  • Am I still serving with passion?
  • Do I still believe with confidence?
  • Am I confessing with humility?
  • Am I worshipping with joy?
  • Am I giving with gladness?
  • Am I reaching out in love?

Don’t “crashland” into Easter. Allow it to be a time of spiritual renewal.
